Brunei Darussalam 25th SEA Games contingent came home last night as a hero. From the 9 days event, Brunei contingents bagged 10 medals overall one gold, one silver and eight bronze medals.

The only gold medal for the sultanate's came from Hj Md Khairul Bahrin Hj Duraman at the men's tunggal event.

Whilst the only silver came from wushu women's Duilian (doubles broadsword and spear), coming from Faustina Woo Wai Sii and Lee Ying Shi event.

The bronze medals, meanwhile, came from karate-do (four), silat (three) and wushu (one).

Brunei athletes arrival at the Brunei International Airport in Berakas were greeted by their family and SEA Games officials.

Brunei confirmed to competes in Tennis Davis Cup

After hosting Group 5 of the Davis Cup last April, the Brunei Darussalam Tennis Association (BDTA) has confirmed their participation for next year events which will be held at Jordan. Four Bruneians will compete in the 2010 Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group 4 schedule in 19th April.

This will be the major comeback for BDTA's after 10 years draught for the tournament. Asher Khan and Hanadi Hambali will showcase their best at singles competitions while doubles categories by Abd Hamizan Abd Hamid and his partner Mohaimin Hj Awang.

Sixty registered player will represents 11 nations for the tournament. Ten other countries were Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Myanmar, Qatar, Singapore, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, UAE and Yemen.

IOC Award for Laos as gracious hosts of 25th SEA Games

Laos gained further recognition as gracious hosts of the 25th SEA Games when the International Olympic Council awarded the nation with the President's Trophy to the Standing Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic His Excellency Somsavat Lengsavad. Somsavat is also the chairman of the 25th South East Asian Games Organizing Committee, and who received the award from the vice-president of the IOC, Ng Ser Miang on behalf of IOC president Jacques Rogge.

"In recognition of your outstanding effort in the promotion of sport in Laos, your bringing Southeast Asian athletes to share a unique experience of the Games in Vientiane, and for fulfilling the Olympic ideals as expounded by Pierre de Coubertin, the founding father of the modern Olympic Games, the IOC awards you the International Olympic Committee President's Trophy," said Ng.

"On behalf of the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic Family congratulate the Lao People's Democratic Republic for hosting the South East Asian Games for the very first time. You have organized excellent Games and extended your warm and wonderful hospitality and friendship to all the participants and visitors to the Games.

"To each and every one of the 3100 athletes from the 11 SEA Games countries, you have competed, lived and embraced the Olympic values of "Excellence, Friendship and Respect". Congratulations on your outstanding performances.

"On behalf of the International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge, I have the privilege of honouring the Government and the people of Lao People's Democratic Republic and the man responsible for organizing the Games, His Excellency Somsavat Lengsavad, Standing Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 25th South East Asian Games."

Over the past three years, Laos have worked tirelessly to fulfil the Government's vision to promote sport among the people of the country, hence contributing to building a peaceful and better world through the practice of sport in the Olympic spirit. Sport is after all the only language understood by everyone, and an important element that unites people and the Laos government took on the challenge to host the 25th SEA Games and successfully transformed the sporting landscape of the country.

The Sports Complex at Km16 with its magnificent main stadium, aquatic centre, shooting range, tennis courts and competition halls, amongst the other outstanding facilities spread over Vientiane such as the SEA Games Golf Course and the Judo Hall are among the best found in the region.

"Excellency, your personal interest and attention in the organization of the Games have resulted in the most successful Games, not only in terms of the excellent organization and outstanding hospitality, but also in the remarkable performances from the Laos athletes. The Laos athletes achieved a record total of 33 gold medals, 25 silver and 52 bronze medals to finish seventh overall," he added.

The Laos People's Democratic Republic now joins the list of countries that have successfully hosted the South East Asian Games. In his keynote address during the closing ceremony of the 25th edition of the SEA Games last night, His Excellency Bouasone Bouphavanh, the Prime Minister of the Laos said that Laos faced some difficulties in preparing for the Games.

"But as a member of ASEAN, we are committed to putting on the best Games we can. We, the Organizing Committee, contributed out best effort in every aspect to ensure that these SEA Games embody the Games' philosophy of cooperation, friendship and mutual development," added Bouasone.

"This is an opportunity for national economic and social development that will contribute to the preservation of our national culture and is a wonderful chance to show the world out beloved country which holds dear the sentiment of the Games motto: Generosity, Amity, Healthy Lifestyle." Brilliant Malaysian football team showcase for gold medal

Malaysia have beaten Vietnam 1-0 in the Laos capital of Vientiane to take their first gold in the 25th Southeast Asian Games after 20 years draught.

Vietnam, who had beaten Malaysia in the group stages, Failed to convert their dominance to lead the game in the first half. Malaysia, superior in the second period, scored with just six minutes to go. Under pressure from Malaysia's Talaha Norshahrul Idlan, Vietnam's Mai Xuan Hop could only divert the ball into his own net and his side were unable to find an equaliser in the time remaining.

Both teams struggled to find their fluency in a scrappy opening spell although as the half wore on Vietnam started to enjoy more of the possession. They went close on 25 minutes with a header well saved by Malaysia's Mohamad Sharbinee Allawee but failed to create many clear openings in a stadium filled with thousands of Vietnam supporters clad in red t-shirts.

In the second half Malaysia threatened much more, particularly on the counter-attack. Saarani Ahmad Fakri missed a good chance with his head at the near post after a cross by Idlan. Four minutes later they had a shot cleared off the line. Zaquan Adha burst through the middle just after coming on as a substitute in the 69th minute but could not finish.

Urged on by their fanatical supporters, Vietnam continued to push forward but left themselves exposed to quick breakaways and eventually paid the price.Photo credited to afp.

Barcelona beat Atlante 3-1 for world cup final spot

A Lionel Messi-inspired Barcelona entered the final of the Club World Cup with a 3-1 win over Mexican Club Atlante in the semifinal at the Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Wednesday night.

Watched on by a capacity pro-Barcelona crowd totalling 40,952, the UEFA Champions League winners rallied from a goal down to beat the CONCACAF Champions Cup winners.

Barcelona will take on Copa Libertadores winners Estudiantes in the final on December 19. Atlante FC will meet Pohang Steelers in the play-off for third place on the same day.

The Catalans who had lost their way a bit in the first half and had levelled through Sergio Busquets, had to rely on the ‘Messi Magic’ to take them through. Messi came off the bench in the 55th minute and scored in the same minute to pilot the Spanish giants home.

Sergio Busquets scored in the 35th minute, Lionel Messi scored in the 55th minute and Pedro rounded it off in the 67th minute. Guillermo Rojas scored in the fifth minute for Atlante.

Despite the packed Stadium rooting for the Spanish giants, the small boys from Mexico were fired up for the game. Their forwards were menacing, the midfield controlled the game and the defence stood up well to the Barcelona forwards.

In fact, they scored off their first foray in just the fifth minute of play after the Barcelona defence lay in tatters. Midfielder Guillermo Rojas made a fine interception of a long ball in and Barca goalkeeper Victor Valdes charged out of his citadel. And despite defender Dani Alves tailing him, Rojas had the legs over him and nudged his left-footer into goal.

Barca threatened two minutes later but only just as Sergio Busquets’s dangerous header off a Xavi corner was collected by goalkeeper and captain  Federico Vilar.

Barcelona defender Dani Alves received a yellow card for a foul on old rival Santiago Solari. The lanky Solari has played for Real Madrid in the  Spanish League.

The Barcelona defence was all over the place again and Fernando Navarro could have got Atlante’s second just five minutes after the opening goal. Navarro slipped through the Barca defence and had just the goalkeeper Victor Valdes to beat but captain Carles Puyol, who tailed him, made contact just at the nick of time and deflected the ball away.

Stung by the early reverse, Barcelona hit their strides and almost got the equaliser in the 26th minute but their charismatic playmaker Andre Iniesta’s swerving left-footer sailed over the cross bar.

Later, in the 33rd minute, the rocker-looking Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who moved from Italian club Inter Milan this season, fired a threatening free kick just over the cross bar.

But they didn’t have to wait long for the equaliser as Sergio Busquets drew level for Barca just after the half hour mark. The unmarked Busquets drove his grounder home from a Yaya Toure header off a Xavi corner in the  35th minute.

The Catalans could have gone into the break 2-1 but Dani Alves, who charged down the right flank, muffed his shot when he just had the goalkeeper to beat. The Brazilian sent his shot wide of  the post.

The whole stadium erupted with chants of “Messi, Messi” in the 55th minute as coach Pep Guardiola brought in the Argentine ace in place of Yaya Toure. He made a double substitution bringing on Gerard Pique for  Rafael Marquez.

And Messi, who was a doubtful starter for the game because of an ankle injury sustained during their Champions League match against Dynamo Kiev last Wednesday, responded by doubling the lead off his first touch on the ball in the very same minute he came on.

The European Footballer of the Year sent it home from close range after being put in by Iniesta. And despite the goalkeeper Federico Velar getting a bit of hand on it, the ball rolled in.

Messi’s arrival sparked Barca’s revival and they were in the zone now and scored a third through Pedro in the 67th minute after some neat groundwork by playmaker Iniesta.

'Jabulani' the most complex Adidas production

Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) recently revealed the latest addidas soccer ball production and it was specially designed for the World Cup 2010, ‘Jabulani’.

What makes this 11th ball generations special is the South African concept in its design. In addition, the ball designed used the latest and precise designing technology which makes it the most accurate round shape soccer ball, said as the best in soccer ball making history.

Jabulani simply means ‘to celebrate’ in Zulu language. The ball comes with 11 different colours to represents 11 players for each football team and also to highlights 11 different language that are widely used in South Africa. The colourfull stripes also represents the heritage of African nations culture.

Furthermore, Jabulani was the 11th Adidas soccer ball production for the FIFA World Cup competitions since 1970.

The outcome from the ball testing prior its official announcement as world cup 2010 soccer ball, Jabulani was said to have an increased of 5% in its speed when kicked from a range of 20 meters. The test was taken at above 1000 meter above sea level and calculated with a maximum speed of 126km/hour. This test was taken due to most of the game venue were more than 1000 meters above sea level. At sea level, the maximum tested speed was 120km/hr.

Every production, adidas was recorded to produce a much faster ball leaving any goal keeper with no choice but to maximize their reaction speed. Most of the greatest footballer did amazed with the new soccer ball and can't wait to test it on the ground.

Brunei with first 25th SEA Games gold medal

Brunei Darussalam contingent now added its medal tally collection with first gold medal through Pencak Silat Men’s Tunggal event in the 25th SEA Games Laos. Haji Md Khairul Bahrin Haji Duraman easily became Brunei hero with the first gold from 28 other athletes for the sultanates.

Meanwhile on day four of the competitions, Brunei bagged 3 more medals. Brunei women’s karate-do veteran, Masdiana Haji Tengah who competes in the 50kg and below finished with bronze.

In the women’s Wushu Duilian category, Brunei athletes Faustina Woo Wai and partner, Lee Ying Shi scooped first silver medal for the sultanate’s. Meanwhile also in the Wushu Men Duilian with weapon category, a twin brother Isa bin Bismi and Ismi bin Bismi won the bronze medal.

Mukim Tutong shine at Tutong Carnival 2009

Whilst more people pays attention to the 25th SEA Games in Laos, Seri Kenangan beach in Tutong remain one of the most popular weekend getaway destinations, when Tutong Beach Sports Carnival 2009 was held yesterday. The events was organised by the Tutong District Youth & Sports Department.

The “fun day” participated by four “mukims” from Tutong district, Mukim Keriam, Mukim Kiudang, Mukim Ukong and Mukim Telisai. A fully stretched day events provides fun competitive individual and group games such as tug-of-war, strongest men, bottle fishing, beach soccer match, beach sepak takraw and many more.

Strengthening the relationships amongst the Tutong populations was the major aims for this sports event. The final event from yesterday fun day was the prize presentations to the winners for each individual and group participation. Mukim Kiudang teams bring home the title with 115 points. Meanwhile Mukim Keriam and Mukim Ukong finished second and third respectively with 104 points and 94 points.

Present as the guest of honour was acting Tutong district officer, Awang Haji Muhammad Suffian bin Haji Bungsu.

3 Bronze's for Brunei in the 25th SEA Games

Three days after an official launching of the 25th Sea Games competitions, Brunei Darussalam now can be seen in the medals table after scooping three bronze medals through karate-do events.

Men's kumite 84 kg and above categories specialist, Mohammad Jamil Haji Abdul Hamid became the first sultanate's athlete to claim the first bronze medal after stamping over Thailand's Santi Ruema 7-2.

In the men's kumite 67 kg and below, Mohammad Fadillah Sanif secure its podium place for Brunei's second bronze yesterday after outclassed Sovan Kiri 9-1 from Cambodia.

Another Cambodian athlete, Eng Kakada became the next victims to the sultanate's new comers to represents Brunei National teams, Mainudin Haji Mohammad in the men's 84 kg and below events. With style, Mainuddin won the fight by 11-3 to made 3 bronze for Brunei in day three of the competitions.

While in the women's 55kg and below category, Dayangku Nurleha binte Pengiran Abdul Rahman who is also her first appearance in SEA Games failed her bid for podium finish.

In the day four of the competitions today, Brunei's martial arts participations in karate-do and taekwando events will be hoping for another medals collections to see four more categories. Womens veteran Masdiana Haji Tengah will competes in 50kg and below category, Mohammad Fadillah in the men's 67kg and below category, Mohd Fida'iy Haji Sanif in the men's 60kg and below category and Haji Eddie Jofriani Haji Johari in the men's 55kg and below category.

Whilst Brunei's only representatives in taekwando quarter-finals events, Mohd Fathullah Mohd Taib will be also competing today in the finweight division against Tan Junwei from Singapore.

Crowned Prince participate Cue events

Brunei Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah has been a pool enthusiasts for long already and will be participating the 25th SEA Games in Laos. The Crowned Prince presents will be not as a spectator, but as one of the 39 Brunei's best athletes sent to take part in the 9-Ball Pool men’s singles and men’s Doubles event.

Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah will pair up with Teo Chee Soon in the men’s Doubles events, which will begin on December 10-12 at the Convention Hall Don Chan Palace Hotel. Whilst the individual event will take place on December 15-16 at the same palce.

Previously, Brunei's Crown Prince Muhtadee Billah looks over a shot during the fifth round match in the men's eight ball pool at the Southeast-Asian (SEA) Games in Nakhon Ratchasima December 10 of the Sea Games 2007 drama. At the last SEA Games in Korat, Brunei contingent only managed to grab a gold medals.

Less than a year, football sport followers will be entertained with the most awaited football competitions in the planet. Held every four years and contested amongst the 32 best men's football national teams from around the world meets for the FIFA World Cup Trophy. The competitions will be only unique to the registered teams to Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the sport's global governing body.

The main phase or so called the World Cup Finals only lasted for a month. What makes it more awarded would be the qualification phase or process lasted for three years before they can be included within the last 32 teams for the final spot.

Well known as World Cup or FIFA World Cup, it is believe to be the most widely-viewing sporting event in the planet. An estimated of more than 700 million people watched the 2006 final match, that far more than the number of individuals watching Olympic Games. For those who purchased the world cup 2010 tickets would be proud to have it and bon voyage for the South Africa trip where it will be held between 11 june and 11 july 2010.

Presents for the draws is each team coaches except Diego Maradona after banned by FIFA to attend the draw and some other football related as well as FIFA officials.

The finals will get underway on the schedule date with the host nation, South Africa facing Mexico at Soccer City. The Johannesburg stadium also hosted the final on 11 July 2009.

RBAF boat race team is no stranger to others

An annually event of Brunei's National Boat Race championship was again hits Brunei territoty. A national tradition boat race was as before organised by the Brunei national boat race association and Youth and Sports Department, again no doubtd attracted teams of Sarawak and Sabah best rowers team.

Serasa Water Sports complex in Muara was the focal point for the participating 10 teams, competing in 8 events. Namely Royal Brunei Armed Forces Team, Awat-Awat Sarawak Team, Kota Kinabalu Sabah Team and Tarap Bau Team.

Two categories were entertained this year.

RBAF Team grabbed the first place in the Traditional 800 Meter Open for 30 Rowers and 800 Meter Local Boats for 20 Rowers.

Traditional Open Marathon for 30 Rowers was won by Awat-Awat Sarawak Team. They also secured the title in the 800 Meter Traditional Open for 15 Rowers.

Kota Kinabalu Sabah Team won 800 Meter Febra Boat for 20 Rowers and 800 Meter Febra Boat Open for 15 Rowers.

The 25th episode of the South-East Asian Games is just around the corner. Laos will be hosting the 10-day games, which will kicks-off on the 9th December 2009 and Brunei will be participating in the events.

Brunei athletes route to the big Asian games, 13 chosen athletes were sent to participated in the 10-day Asian Indoor Games, hosted by the Qyan Ngua Sports Palace in Hanoi. Kicked off on 29th October 2009, the Sultanate contingents which remarks its first participations only took parts in 3 sports event, 9-balls single events, Wushu and Pencak Silat.

The contingents bagged 1 silver medal from pencak silat-sisters Norleyermah & Norleyharyanti Binte Haji Raya combined with Nurul Aimi Zainidi. While 6 more medals came from Wushu participants.

Also participating was HRH Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office in the 9-ball singles event.

Favourite's, China finished the top table list with 48 gold, 25 silver and 19 bronze. Whilist, host Vietnam came second with 42 gold, 30 silver and 22 bronze. Kazakhstn were third with 21 gold, 16 silver and 21 bronze medals.

DPMM FC steal one points at Jurong

Jurong West Stadium in Singapore was bombarded with 6 goals, but the in-form performances from both teams, Gombak United FC and DPMM FC produced no winner as the game ended with a 3-3 draw in Thursday evening.

The host entertained about 2000 spectators in the third minutes through Emmanuel Emuejeraye close range strike. Despite DPMM FC efforts to equalise, Gombak double their lead when Gabriel Obatola made no mistake to put down DPMM FC goal keeper, Wardun Yussof.

Two goals down after 70 minutes, Vjeran Simunic side did an impressive come back. Shahrazen Said started the show in the 71st minutes. It was then Abdel Hamid turn to score putting 2-2 after 78 minutes.

Five minutes before the actual time ended, Gombak is back on the lead after Rene Komar fouled Agu Camir in the penalty box. Obatola easily tapped the ball for Gombak 3, DPMM FC 2. However, Shahrazen once again put his name on the scoring lists for the evening in the 90 minutes to bring back a deserving points for DPMM FC.

Another luck for a win draught playing away games will be against SAFFC at Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Singapore this July 29.

Failed 2-1 to Tampines Rovers FC last week at Singapore, Brunei DPMM FC is still unbeaten at Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium after edging Albirex Niigata FC 2-1. Down one-nil two minutes after Rosmin Kamis was red-carded in the 38th minutes, Vjeran Simunic's side had to score twice to ensure the winning momentum playing at home.

It was Tetsuya Kishida who break the scoreless mark at the 40th minutes to lead the game. But the next half of the game belongs to the hosts. Haji Subhi Abdillah put his name on the scoring sheets at the 75th minutes. DPMM FC then only had to wait another 4 minutes before Ivan Jerkovic scored the winning goals and to rock the supporters.

This is the first appearance of the team after the dismissal of Korean Oh Ddog Yi from the club.

From there, DPMM FC now back to the third spots of the S-League chart with 35 points, 10 points behind from the leader-SAFFC, and with a game advantage. As for the next fixture, DPMM FC will hope the winning spirits is enough to overcome the hosts Gombak United on 23rd July who is just separated by one point under in the fourth positions.

Sengkang survived over Singapore League Cup champions

Hougang Stadium was the first loosing ground for the reigning League Cup holders, Brunei DPMM FC after the S-Leagues back to its business for the last two weeks.

Winning the first two home games 3-0 and 2-0 respectively over Geylang United and Balestier Khalsa FC, DPMM FC failed to maintain their winning runs to the host, Sengkang Punggol. FC Both teams faced the unfortunate injuries and suspensions to their first eleven players, thus showcased almost equal performances. It was Mamadou Diallo who got his name on the scoresheet 3 minutes before the first episod of the game ended. Murphy Wiredu then strengthen the Dolphin's lead at the 63 minutes, leaving the vistors mission for the next 3 points became hopesless. The only goals for Vjeran Simunic's side came in the 75 minutes through Mohd Shahrazen Said to wrap up the game with Geylang United FC 2, Brunei DPMM FC 1.

DPMM FC will stay at the 4th position spot after 17 games to share 32 ponits with their next rival on July 10th, Tampines Rovers FC at Tampines Stadiumn Singapore.

A 100% home record with a win for Brunei DPMM FC is still happening as the host added another 3 valuable points last night to retake the third S-League spot from Tampines Rovers FC. Besides winning two nil over the visitor-Balestier Khalsa FC, it was not one of the best performances shown. Balestier on the other half, struggled to showcase their ability in the attacking front. Vjeran Simunic's side is on the lead after 10 minutes when Shahrazen Said header find its net, frustrating the visitor. Missing few chances earlier to put more goals, DPMM FC then shows their strength playing at home ground when Rene Komar double the lead in the 89th minutes. That was an easy three points for DPMM FC. Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium has been an excellent ground for the host to steal maximum points for the last 12 matches in the S-League. After all, it was an excellent show by both teams to entertained more than 6000 spectators that evening.

As for the next league fixtures, DPMM FC will play two away games against Sengkang and Tampines on the 6th and 10th July respectively before entertaining the local fans on the 18th to host Albirex Niigata FC.

After conquering the Singapore League Cup group stage, Brunei DPMM FC is now eyeing their first trophy to lift.

Eliminating Geylang United FC with a winning style in the quarter-final 5-3, Brunei DPMM FC fought with a very competitive football spirits in the semi-final against Woodlands Wellington FC. Down to 10 men after Abdelhamid Berguiga was red-carded 3 minutes towards the end, Vjeran Simunic squad managed to secure their final berth with a 2-1 win. Ivan Jerkovic free-kick in the 26 minutes put Brunei DPMM FC on the lead. Berguiga then easily headed to double the score in the 56 minutes before Iranian, Mojtaba Tehranizadeh score Woodlands only goal in the 73 minutes. Other chances, Berguiga, Ohh Ddog Yi and Azwan missed their great chances to add more goals.

As for the next fixture, Brunei DPMM FC will either play SAF FC or Home United, where the game will be played on 16th June. The final fixture will be very much interesting to the Bruneian football fans and that will be not happening until 19 June.

After an opening Singapore League Cup match in group stage with a 1-0 win over Young Lions FC on 2nd June, Brunei DPMM FC extended their winning run by thrashing SAFFC 3-0. Two win from two games, Brunei DPMM FC now led group 'A' table with 6 points, leaving SAFFC and Young Lions FC still looking for their first points from the cup matches. The valuable two maximum points also guaranteed the club positions in the quarter final rounds.

Haji Subhi Abdilah put his name as the first scorer for the club during against Young Lions FC. Ivan Jerkovic, Shahrazen Said and Abdelhamid Berguiga then put the club to the group A top positions after Vjeran Simunic's squad gained the winning momentum in style over SAFFC.

After edged one-nil by Home United FC at Clementi Stadium four days earlier, Brunei DPMM FC recorded their second defeats from thirteen games.

A pulled back goal from Brunei DPMM FC substitute, Mahari Abu Bakar in the 65th minute is not enough to give Vjeran Simunic squad to steal three points from Woodlands Wellington FC at Woodlands ground.

The home team score their opening goal in the 33rd minute. Woodlands import player from Tehran, Mojtaba Tehranizadeh close range header entertained his supporters for a 1-0 lead.

The hosts continues to show their ground advantage when Jamil Ali doubled their lead in the 64th minute, before Mahari score the only goal for Brunei DPMM FC less than a minute. The game ended to give Woodlands Wellington FC first home game win 2-1 to Brunei DPMM FC.

Still 25 points, Brunei DPMM FC remains in the third spot in League and Woodlands Wellington FC jumps to 9th with 13 points from 13 games. Brunei DPMM FC next games will be against Super Reds FC on 26th May in the Yishun Stadium.

A much much slower internet connections at my new resident will be the major factor for the less updated blog. A bit wrap up on the Singapore League as well as the RHB Singapore Cup for a start.

Brunei DPMM FC continues their unbeaten runs after 10 challenging matches along with Tampines Rovers FC. Home grounds has been the strongest advantages for the S-League invited teams after 5 wins from 5 games, while playing abroad with one win and share a point on four matches.

Edging Pelita jaya FC (Indonesian Super League) 1-0, Brunei DPMM FC proceeds to the next round. Coached by Singapore legends, Fandi Ahmad and backed by five Indonesian national players, Brunei DPMM FC was close to fail their first test in the competitions. thanks to the opponents start who failed to capitalise their many chances. The winning home game over SAF FC three days before the match at Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium also boost the players morale until Abdel Hamid Berguiga scored the winning goals in the 75 minutes at Stadium Jalan Besar. Fail to qualify for the quarter final place since 2005, the traditions is now over.

While for the next opponents, TTM Samut Sakhon FC (Thailand) will be another interesting battle to watch for the semi final place decider. In the preliminary rounds, Sakhon cancel Super Reds last quarters spot by 4-2.

Meanwhile for the S-League fixture, first round of the competitions will be completed this week. Vjeran Simunic squad will travelled to Clementi Stadium to test Home United on 10th May before entertained Young Lions FC on th 16th in Brunei Darussalam.

Maintaining their leads after Ivan Jerkovic opening goal in the 7th minute, Brunei DPMM FC couldn't put another goal until the end of the first 45 minutes of the game. Two minutes after the game resume, the host double their lead through Abdelhamid Berguiga who missed few scoring chances in the first half. Looking for their first goal, DPMM FC defender were put slightly under pressure for the continues attack which led to loosing Pg Sallehuddin Damit after the refree raise a second yellow card to the captain in the 78th minutes. After few attacks, the visitors score the only goal to bring back home in the last minute of the actual game through Therdsak Chaiman.

The added 4 minutes then gave Brunei DPMM FC few great chances to add more goals, and for the visitors to equalise, but at the end, more than 10,000 supporters has something to celebrate, game ended with Brunei DPMM FC beat SAF FC 2-1 to remain their unbeaten run after 10 games in the league.

Brunei DPMM FC now back on top of the S-League table with 22 points with SAF FC and Gombak United shared 21 points also after 10 games of the season.

For the second time, DPMM FC now on the summit of the S-League tables after beating Gombak United FC 2-1 at Jalan Besar Stadium, Singapore. Place third before the game started, DPMM FC shock the league leader at the 3rd minutes through Sairol Sahari free kick. The opening goal put Gombak under pressure to maintain their unbeaten run by charging more attacks to level the game. Only before half hour mark, Emmanuel Emuejeraye score the only goal for his team to make one all.

After the 45 minutes break, Vjeran Simunic seems to learn his boys weaknesses. Every attack is meaningless for Gombak as they couldn't pass the defence easily. With some great chances from Oh Ddog Yi and Hamid Beguiga in the second half, it was again Sairol touch that put DPMM FC ahead and sending his team to the top of the table. The winning goal came in the 73 minutes to secure the 3 points and one point advantage to Gombak. (tables here). Sairol was then received the honour as man of the match where Pengiran Sallehudin to present the trophy.

DPMM FC next match will be on 14th April with a visit to Albirex Niigata FC ground.

Un-stoppable strike from Tampines Rovers FC import player of Thailand National players cancel DPMM FC dreams to share the top S-League points with Gombak United. Leading the game after Shariff Samat own goal header in the 63 minutes, Sutee Suksomkit level the match through a free kick in the 75 minutes. For the remaining shows, the visitors close to allow few chances for the host team to bag 3 points. Tampines Rovers FC is more than happy to just finished the game with a one goal draw to DPMM FC. Both teams now stays in fourth and third position respectively from 7 games. Showing a good piece of work, Rene Komar has been voted as Man of the Match to received the trophy to bring back home.

For the first time, RTB 2 will be bringing the live broadcasting all the way from Jalan Besar Stadium, Singapore for the S-League match between Tampines Rovers FC against DPMM FC on 3rd April 2009, 7:25pm.

A win for DPMM FC will put the Brunei team to the second spot sharing 17 points along with the league leader Gombak United FC. Tampines is currently 4 points behind DPMM FC and will look to keep the gap closer for the title run this season.

The only goal for the match between Balestier Khalsa FC and DPMM FC came from a great strike of Oh Ddog Yi. The goal shocked the hosts in the 35th minutes. The maximum points from the Toa Payoh Stadium strengthen DPPM FC at third place with 11 points from five games.

At Jurong West Stadium, Gombak United who played Young Lions also secure their three points with one nil victory. The winning goals only came in the 90 minutes from Kingsley Njoku strike thus leading the S-League table with 13 points from five games. The previous top team, SAF FC now placed second with 12 points with a game to spare.

The next game for DPMM FC will be hosting Sengkang Punggol FC at Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium on 24th Mac. A great number of supporters is expected next week due to the great performances from the Vjeran Simunic squad competing in the S-League.

39th Brunei ITF Junior Circuit

Today remarks the fourth day of the Brunei Group 4 International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior Circuit Tournament. The 39th edition competitions was held at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex's National Tenis Centre. Brunei Darussalam as the hosting nation is represented by its four growing national tennis player Mathew Bukit, Amin Feisal, Oliver Goy & Asher Jeremiah.

A total of 96 competitors from 21 countries has been registered to compete in this tounaments edition. One of the international rising star player to compete in this event is Taipei's Hsieh Cheng-Peng. Ranked 18th in the world junior, he recently won the Australian Open junior doubles title. The competition will continues until this Sunday, 15 March.

DPMM FC will be back on field at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium on the 8th March 2009. The kick-off time will be 8.45pm. Playing at home ground will boosts up the Vjeran Simunic skuad to maintain their good performances momentum. Another three points from this match will put DPMM FC to third position with 7 points from three games.

While the visiting club will be keen to celebrate their first win after only manage to draw on the first two games, leaving them in 9th positions with 2 points.

Two goal at the second half from Yusof Salleh before Abu Bakar Mahari score the winning goal 6 minutes to the stopage time allowed DPMM FC to clinch a 2-1 victory over Korean Super Reds FC.

Despite falling behind to Korean striker Jeon Byung Euk who score from the penalty spot in the 11th minute, DPMM FC hauled back into the game coming out of the changing room. Filled with more than 10,000 local supporters, the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium began to rock when Yusof Salleh break level 1-1 after 61st minute through his superb free-kick.

6 minutes to stoppage time, the first DPMM FC scorer from the first game in Singapore last week, Abu Bakar Mahari put his side on the lead for the first time-he fired the winning goal after the goalies stumble for the ball.

The head coach, Vjeran Simunic (picture) is more than happy to comments about the game. "I like to see more supporters for the next game here," Simunic. We are hungry to play football, now it's the time to score and win. "We had more than enough talented local players, injury is not a major problem right now," Simunic.

From the two game so far, DPMM FC now moved to fourth position with four points, thus keeping the pressure on the remaining team to test their capability. Another game last night at Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Singapore, SAFFC beat Home United 3-1. SAFFC remain at the top table followed by Gombak. Third place, Home United shared four points with DPMM FC.

3rd Triathlon Brunei 2009

The 3rd Triathlon Brunei Darussalam will be held on Sunday, 1st March 2009. As for the previously done, the course for the competition will be started at the Serasa beach, Brunei and Muara district as early as 7 in the morning.

The first discipline of the said endurance challanges sport will be 1,500 meters swimming along the allocated Serasa beach.

From there, the participants will have to reach their bicycle for the 40 kilometer cycling. The course will be leaving the beach towards Brunei Muara-Tutong highway, passing the University of Brunei Darussalam. Follwing the route, they should pass the Hassanal Bolkiah highway unto the airport and passing the Old Airport heading to the National Stadium for the finishing line.

The last race for the tournament will be another 10 kilometer. Running towards Sultan Omar Ali Saifudin. Passing the school, they will run back towards the stadium for the final finishing line.

An expected duration for the whole endurance will be just under 4 hours. The Brunei Triathlon is a standard olympic format.

Aberdeen Brunei Senior Masters 2009

Brunei Darussalam will be eyed by more than 40 countries throughout the world for the Brunei Aberdeen Senior Masters 2009, which is to be held at The Empire and Country Club. The 5 days competition will be held between 25th February and schedule to end on 1st March. US$400,000 will be put on the stake for the Golf Tour Title.

The major sponsor for the game is Aberdeen Asset Management for the namely European Seniors Tour event in Brunei Darussalam.

Others sponsors were The Royal Brunei Airlines, The Empire Hotel & Country Club Brunei Darussalam, Davenport Lyons, WSM, Stapleford Forum, European Senior Tour, Brunei Shell, DST Group and Tourism Brunei.

10 Months To The 25th Sea Games

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, The President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BNOC), held a meeting last saturday, 7 Feb 2009 with regards to the progress of the Sultanate's athletes for the 2009 Laos Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

The 25th SEA Games will be held in Vientiane, Laos from Dec 12-21 this year. From the meeting last november, the host nation council stated that, 25 sports would be contested in the tournament.

The main aim of the meeting which was held at the Meeting Room of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium discussed on the athletes performances and their selection process. No athlestes has been confirmed for the Laos Games yet, but it is stated that no representative from table tennis and weight-lifting will be going for the tournament, due to their games standard.

The meeting were also attended by Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Ahmad Hj Jumat, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, officials from the ministry as well as representatives of 17 local sports associations. As for the record from the last tournament in Korat, Thailand, from 57 athletes competing in 12 sports, our contingents bagged one gold, one silver and four bronze medals.

Today will remarks another history in Brunei Darussalam Footbal Association. A meeting will be held 7pm this evening at Lecture Theatre (Dewan Kuliah), Negara Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium, Berakas. Chairing the meeting will be Sheikh Nordin Sheikh Mohammad who is the current acting committee member of the new Football Federation in Brunei, namely Football Federation Brunei Darussalam (FFBD).

For the meeting, Sheikh Nordin urge all representatives of football associations and clubs in the state to attend the meeting.

The purpose of the meeting was believe to elect the management or administrative council members of the newly established Federation after the Brunei Amateur Football Association (BAFA) was call off last year.

From the meeting, it is hope that the continuation of the Brunei Football development will resumes to its normal business.

Before the year 2008 ended few months back, few weeks after the born of sportsbrunei, we did come up with this idea on thinking what will be the most popular sports in Brunei Darussalam. So sitting, thinking of what to write on this blog should be related to what most people like to know on the sporting events in Brunei and regionally...

One evening, while learning on how to actually do blogging, I've seen the word poll on the widget (seen this few times, but overlook if this actually helps), so we decided to take this opportunity to have this on sportsbrunei. But, I only manage to think of 8 sports on the lists (badminton, basketball, futsal, netball, soccer, softball/baseball, swimming & tennis).

As the poll runs, soccer remains as the most popular choices amongst our readers here with 50% of the votes, followed by futsal and badminton/swimming with 37% & 19% respectively. Basketball, netball & tennis finish up with 7% while 1% goes to softball/baseball. From these poll results, most of the time, sportsbrunei will be covering soccer games, but from time to time, other sports will be as much as possible not to be left behind.

Also, we would like to thank for all the readers as well as the chatters who left some comments on our shoutbox. As question by the red, he liked to see coverage on track & field events...and hopefully, that will be done accordingly. Again thanks for all the supports, hope to see great sporting events coverage oppurtunity this year all.
